Day 12 – Small Treat

January 20, 2019 – After a long trip yesterday, we all deserve to have a rest and I believe today is the day to have a good rest.

In the morning I work for my instructional materials for my EP 1 class. I hope they will like what I prepared for them. In the afternoon, we bought something for our lunch since we feel hungry after doing instructional materials. We also bought something for our buddies. After all they deserve a small treat. We are very thankful to have them as our buddy. They are very accommodating and lovely. I love every moments with them.

Stomach Treat!

At the evening, all of us, together with the buddies, bought something for dinner and something we can use for our materials in teaching. After that, I spent my night doing lesson plans and instructional materials.

It will gonna be a long day tomorrow. I must take a rest now. Ciao!

Day 11 – Whole Day Tour

January 19, 2019 – Today is a day where in I can find it very informative, adventurous, fulfilling, enjoying, and productive day. Together with our buddies, we had our one day tour at Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

The first stop is the Kiriwong Village. Kiri means mountain and wong means circle. The Kiriwong Village is made up of mountains that are in a circular form. It is also designated as the cleanest atmosphere in Thailand. We first stop into the bridge and took a photo. The mountains can be seen in the bridge. The water is so clean and there are a lot of fishes.

Next, we went to the shop where in they are making clothing with a natural color made from the leaves of the trees such mangosteen. They sell for souvenirs and a bought something for my friends.

Next, we went to the Mangosteen shop. It is a place where in they are making their own products using the natural ingredients. They are making herbal soap and lotions made of mangosteen.

We had our lunch near the falls. The ambiance is really calm and relaxing. The view is really nice and it is good to have a photo especially in the hanging bridge. also enjoyed the food. Thai foods are amazing.

After a long ride we went to the Museum, it is not new for me since we already been here with Kuya Felix.

Next stop, the Shadow Puppet. It is my first time to watch a puppet show. Even though I can’t understand it, I still find it very funny. Everything is exciting in enjoyable in the Puppet show . After the show, we went to the museum, I experienced making a puppet and I can say that it is really hard. It is not an easy job.

We then went to the temple, Sir Frank gave us a lot of information about the temple. I really do respect their belief since it is sacred for the Buddhist.

For our last stop, the night market! We feed ourselves with a lot of foods and we feel tired after having a long walk. Today is really an amazing day. I experience a lot of things and the tiredness were all worth it.

Day 10 – #Firsts

January 18, 2019 – I already started teaching mathematics to EP 1. I taught them how to add two digit numbers within 100. As I was discussing, I can really observed that they are following on my discussion and they find it easy that’s why there’s no doubt they can answer my questions really fast and correct. There’s more fun in teaching especially when you’re students are active.

During afternoon, I stayed in the faculty room. I started to work for my lesson plan but I didn’t finish it yet. I find it hard to do their lesson plan maybe because their type of lesson plan is way different than the lesson plan we used in the Philippines. I just printed the things that I needed for my lesson on Monday and bring it on the dormitory since I will going to work for it.

After the class, I together with the other foreign student-interns and Filipino teachers went to Tic Tac Toast. It is the newly opened cafe’ introduced to us by Teacher Dale and it is our first time being here. The ambiance is cool and the foods are really delicious. They gave us free toast too. We’re so full! We just decided to walk going home so that we can lessen our indigestion.

At night, since we’re craving for the Filipino food, I cooked adobo for them. Honestly I don’t know how to cook, but after cooking, I just realize that I can be a good cook someday. My Mom should be proud of me!

We spent our day 10 joyfully and full of laughter. I am looking forward for more days here in Thailand.

Day 9 – Good Food, Good Friends

January 17, 2019- A usual day for every student and teachers in Satit Demonstration School. I observed the class of EP 1 for the whole day and I also observed how the teacher administer the class. I can say that the teachers really check the development of every students especially when they are answering the exams.

Student’s while having their midterm exam.

During lunch time, we went to the canteen near the dormitory to have our lunch and I share my food together with co-Filipino, Indonesian, and Thai friends. We’re always together during lunch time so that it is really fine with us to share foods. After that we attend our respective assigned classes.

In the evening, the four of us, the 7th batch participants, decided to have a walk but unfortunately it rained that’s why we just stayed at our dormitory and waited until the rain stops so that we can go to the night market wherein we bought our foods for dinner. We bought a lot for our dinner. At the same time, we also share our food. We’re so full. It’s really good to have friends to share your foods with.

At the end of the day, I prepared my lesson for the next day since I’ll start my teaching demonstration to EP 1. It’s a challenge to me to teach primary students but I’m excited. Well, good luck to me. πŸ™‚

Day 8 – The Mini Festival

January 16, 2019 – Happy Teacher’s Day to all the Teachers!

Today is holiday since Thailand celebrates Teacher’s Day to all the strong educators with powerful perspectives all around the country. Therefore, it declares a free day for us. We went to the Central plaza to have lunch since we’re craving for some chicken and it is really good to know that there are a lot of Filipino teachers there. We’re so happy that we found some people that can understand and can communicate to us properly.

KFC Timeee!

After we went home, our buddies invited us to join them for a mini night market inside the university. There’s a lot of foods, activities, and there’s even a band. We had so much fun! We’re really happy because our buddies are very accommodating and hospitable. They introduced us to their friends and we’re so happy that they are now our friends too. They gave us free foods and all of the foods are really aroi (delicious)!

In the end, we went home happy with a smile on our face because of the experiences that happened to us to day. Ciao!

Day 7 – Observing the “Mean Class”

January 15, 2019- So far so good since we started being here at NSTRU, Thailand. We meet a lot of people here everyday and we’re just being introduced by the school earlier. Just like yesterday, we observe the class wherein we are being assigned. The most significant thing that happened today is that I observed the behavior of the so called “mean class” of Satit Demonstration School. Not all of them are mean. Children are naturally naughty especially at the young age. After being with EP 3, I can say that they are just normal students. Some of them are sweet and thoughtful, but some of them are very noisy, but they are still good and well-discipline students.

Who can say that these thoughtful students are very noisy and mean?

After a long day, we went home tired and happy.

Day 6 – NSTRU Interns

January 14, 2019 – Today is really a good day. NSTRU student teachers were introduced at the flag ceremony. It happened that two of the interns are with me in the EP 1, so it means new friends. Their name is Pukbung and Namfon. They proved to me that language is not a barrier in order to express what you feel and in order to make new friends. The two of them are very lovely and cool. Pukbung taught me how to speak basic Thai language that I can use in communicating people in the City. It’s really fun learning their language but I can easily forget it since the terminologies were too long. Together with my CO-SEA Teacher participants, we had our lunch at the huge cafeteria of the university. It is our first time having our lunch here and it is really good since there are a lot of choices for foods.

Minutes after, the other SEA Teacher participant already arrived and she eat lunch with us. Yaaay! I got a lot of friends coming from different nationality. So the six of us walkes together going to Satit Demonstration School and continued our observation.

After the school, our buddies asked us to join them feeding fish. There’s a story behind the fond with full of fish. It says that the couple that wants to get married puts a fish in the find to have a happy marriage. At the end, we had so much fun feeding the fish and bonding with our buddies.

Right after we went home, the officer in charge for the dormitory called us for a dorm meeting. We were shocked because there’s a lot of students here at the dorm. We introduced ourselves and ask them to be friends with us.

That’s all for today. Bye bye. #Taoraika

Day 5 – Buddy Day

Sunday is the day where students of NSTRU will come after having rest from their home. So today, we bonded with our buddies! We slept well and woke up around 9:00 am after having a long day yesterday. We were planning to go to church but we’re late. Since we have time, we called for our buddies to have a tour a the city again. Since other buddies were not yet around, we just went with Pop. Pop is with us and we ate foods that we like. It is so fun!

Pop in her red jacket, Dillah, Krishia, and I!

After the food galore, we already went home. Minutes later, buddies were calling us downstairs. Yaaay! We’re going to the night market. We bought Malah, a grilled food, I had a hard time since it’s too spicy. Good thing we had good friends that will offer you some thing.

That’s all for today. πŸ™‚ #Chai

Day 4 – City Tour πŸ˜

Happy weekend, everyone! So today, we went to the city for a tour. Yaaaay! We’re not with our buddies so Kuya Felix, a co teacher at the Demonstration School, guided us. For our first stop, we went to a small market wherein we looked for some stuffs. It’s really nice seeing Thai products everywhere. Kuya Felix also brought us to the Central Plaza, since it’s Children Day today, the place is so crowded but the fun is still there. I can really feel it.

We also happened to get into the Museum. I’ve learned the Nakhon Si Thammarat is very a historic place. There’s a lot of history bounded in this place and I’m glad that it was preserved. After that we went to a very nice coffee shop. I ordered a drink and a brownie that captivates my eyes, so was my stomach. We took a lot of photos, Instagram photos. The place is eye friendly. I love it.

For our last stop, night market!! We tried a lot of foods. There are also a lot of things can be buy. I’m worried to have an excess baggage when I go home. We’ve tried a lot of foods but these exotic foods are really the challenging one. I told myself that this will my first and the last time to eat food like this. My Indonesian friend like it tho.

After we went home, we met theseΒ  lovely Thai ladies and they let us enter their room! They are all lovely! We gave them something that we bought in the city. It’s good having new friends and I love to have more.

After a long day, we went home happy and fulfilled with a smile on our face. Good night!

Day 3 – Class Observation

January 11, 2019 – Today, I came early to school for we are instructed that we should be at school before 8 in the morning. When we arrived, we’re surprised that the classrooms were not yet opened. Later did I know that they are having their flag ceremony and it is practiced everyday.

Kindergarten Program while having their Flag ceremony.

After the flag ceremony, I already went to my class with my mentor Teacher Jesille. She is handling English Program 1 (EP 1). The class starts at 8:40 am and it ends at 12:00 noon, it will continue to 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. While having their class, I can see that the children are noisy but they can be managed and controlled especially if Ma’am Jesille is the one who is handling them. In their class, they have this called the milk time wherein it’s also called the break time. Everyday some students bring snacks for everyone and luckily, the student gave me one. So cute!

Donuts for snacks! Thank you Prang and Prem!

After long hours of observation, Miss Nadia brought us to a restaurant and the food there is very nice and at the same time cheap. This is the first tine that I enjoy my meal. I ordered chicken with vegetable salad and fries. It is so yumyumyum! We went back to our dorm with full stomach and happy heart. So much for today. #MealOfTheCentury

The hungry people. Haha!
